Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) organizes the National Standard Examination in Chemistry (NSEC) every year for students mainly of classes 9 to 12. NSEC is the first and the stepping stage for students to attempt the IChO (International Chemistry Olympiad) which is at the international level.

Eligibility Criteria for NSEC:
- Only Indians can write the exam. The date of birth is also important in checking the eligibility. Please see the IAPT official website for the date of birth eligibility as it changes for each year.
- Only the students studying in classes below 12 or lower are eligible for this exam.
- The student must not be appearing for NSEJS. But he/she can appear in all other olympiads like NSEP, NSEA, and NSEB.

NSEC 2019-20 Question Paper Analysis:
By analyzing the question paper of NSEC 2019, one can clearly say that the paper was neither easy nor difficult. Most of the questions were rather easy. On a difficulty scale of 1-10, we would rank it at 5.8.
If you study in any coaching institute then most of the questions would be solvable by you. Most of the questions came from Physical and Organic Chemistry, which follows the trend of 2018.
If you do the analysis class-wise, then it is clear the syllabus of class 11 had the most questions made on it. Topics such as stoichiometry, gaseous state, atomic structure from physical chemistry saw more number of questions based on them.
